To Whom It May Concern,
We have decided to withdraw the Derty Sesh video(s) from circulation.
We apologise to anyone that may have been offended. That was certainly not our intention.
The aim of the video was never to promote anything negative towards women, and seeing as it has done so, and caused such a reaction, it is only right that MTC as a label respect the public's views.
Imagery or lyrics depicted in or around a music video is no more an endorsement by the artist as a movie is an endorsement by a director and actor. Because your favorite movie star is violent in a movie does not mean he or she is violent in real life, nor applauds that type of behavior.
While it was never intended to upset people in this way, it obviously has. Again we apologise, and would like to state that violence of any kind is abhorrent and should not be tolerated.
Derty Sesh is a talented young artist, and we will look to support him as he continues his career.

Congratulations To KID MAC:
MTC/Twice As Nice artist, Kid Mac; took out the Best Urban Artist of the year at this year's national MusicOz Awards in Sydney.Musicoz is a national initiative dedicated to improving the quality of original music culture in Australia. For the past 10 years Musicoz has been developing the music industry at the grass roots level by seeking out, recognising and encouraging the talents of unsigned and independent artists and providing them with much needed development support and opportunities as they carve out their careers.
Past winners of the MusicOz Awards include Blue Juice, Porcelain, Bliss N Eso, Mammal, Cog and several other success stories.
From over 5000 entries, MusicOz's judging panel (made up of Major and indie record labels , managers, radio program directors , record producers, TV program Directors and booking agents) culled the list down to a top 50 for each category. These top 50 were then culled to a top 10 and finally top 5 finalists who would be the final nominees of which the winners were announced on the night of the awards. DERTY SESH - Sunday News Feature:
COMEDIAN'S SON HITS HIP-HOP SCENE:By LEE UMBERS - Sunday News
NEW Zealand's latest rap sensation is delivering a King hit on the music scene.
Derty Sesh – aka Nathan King, son of entertainer Mike King – releases his debut album, Sic Love, tomorrow.
But the 23-year-old is already being labelled the brightest new star on the local hip-hop scene.
And the video for his second single, Forever – inspired by the Saw horror films – is attracting reaction from critical praise to disgust.
In the video, a hooded Nathan is shown repeatedly stabbing a bound and gagged young woman he has lured to his shack after killing her boyfriend at a woodlands picnic ground.
An unrepentant Nathan told Sunday News "the whole point" of the video was to cause controversy.
"My whole thing is to push the limit. We got one person who wrote ... saying it's really disgusting, and he was quoting [the song's] lyrics. Then at the end, he was like, `But then again it's not a bad video, I would watch it'," Nathan said.
"People in the hip-hop community [are saying] this is the best New Zealand hip-hop video to date."
The "horror movie with music" theme will continue with the 13-track Sic Love.
"It's not `wow' when someone does it in rock `n' roll or metal, because they do a lot of dark stuff. But to do that with hip-hop music and still make it sound commercial enough to be put on radio as well, I think that's awesome. That's what I've pretty much done with this album. It's pretty much a hip-hop rock opera show."
Nathan's cocky confidence – he swaggeringly announces "I'm the new kid ... best in the world" on first single Really Don't Care – and raw lyrics aren't surprising given his comedian father's at-times edgy stage shows.
His musical ability is self taught, his days at Auckland's Western Springs College and Mt Albert Grammar consumed by "beatboxing or making a rap or writing a song in my head". He came up with the stage name Derty Sesh in the third form.
Nathan said his relationship with his often-busy father has "never been huggy-huggy, lovey-lovey, how you see it on the movies".
"I was never the kid to go around like `Hey that's my dad'. I hated that," he said.
"When people would come over and do photos for ... a woman's magazine, I would always try to stay out of the photo if I could. I'd rather be noticed for `Hey that's Nathan' ... not `that's Mike's son'.
"Some people would be like, `It must be so awesome to have him as a dad, you must have so much money', and that wasn't the case. He had more money than an average job but it wasn't like we were millionaires with Ferraris."
Dropping out of school in the fifth form "to be a rapper", Nathan did a three-month music industry course with Dawn Raid Entertainment and stayed out in south Auckland for a while to taste life in a different 'hood.
To fund his impending career, he flew to Perth and worked for a year in the mines at $1200-1500 Australian a week.
"I saved up a lot and brought all the equipment I now have – microphones, pop filters, speakers, PCs and everything."
He wrote and produced Really Don't Care and cut a video of the single with a film crew of mates to get his name out.
The result was his being signed to the Move The Crowd Records (MTC) in January. So impressed was the label, it remixed Really Don't Care – backing Nathan up with two of its biggest acts, Young Sid and Ethical.
A national tour with band Smashproof followed – and a taste of what being up on the big stage can offer.
"I was excited just to get my music out to other people. But what did I get in return. I just got a lot of women," Nathan joked.
"I get a lot of friend requests on Facebook from women now. It's pretty funny ... everybody wants to be your friend."
As Sic Love – in which Nathan wrote and produced every song – is about to hit the record stores, he is already working on a second album.
After the inevitable promotional rounds in Australia, he aims to head to America.
"I definitely want to go to the States, start a career over there, get their money."
The ambition has been burning for years. A tattoo bearing the name Derty Sesh runs the length of his left arm with flames surrounding the letters.
"That was just to symbolise that I'm on fire.
"Another cocky thing," he says, erupting into laughter.

DERTY SESH - Sunday Star Times Article:
Penned by the same guy that went in on Sid a couple of years ago. His target now drifts to another one of our artists. He fails to mention that the video only needs to receive one complaint on YouTube and it would immediately become a R18 video on the site (which is the only place that it lives). And up until this morning, no one had complained on the site.
He also failed to take into account that Mr Peter "pride of NZ" Jackson made his mark making gore films in the beginning of his career, which were probably government funded. By the way, speaking of government funding; the controversial portion of this video was funded by MTC, not NZ On Air.
For my quote, I actually mentioned Eminem and Marilyn Manson and didn't make it Hip Hop specific. I also tried to emphasize that we have recently tried to steer away from the usual misogynistic videos for Hip Hop that feature scantily clad females. So why would we do that and then make something that we thought degraded females?
All good points, and points that he obviously didn't want to hear from myself, Tim or Sesh.
And finally, people should know that it was the author, Tim Hume; who took the video to the Womens refuge groups to stir this all up.
MIKE KING'S SON IN SPLATTER STORM:
By TIM HUME - Sunday Star Times
ANTI-VIOLENCE GROUPS are calling for a taxpayer-funded music video, featuring the son of comedian Mike King, to be banned, slating the slasher-style clip as "violent, misogynist pornography".
An extended, online version of the video for Nathan King's second single "Forever" depicts the rapper, who performs under the name "Dirty Sesh", crouching over a bound woman with a knife to her head, before stabbing her in a frenzy and cutting out her organs. The clip, which features shots of mutilated women's bodies and body parts, then segues into the television version of the video, which shows the rapper stalking a young couple in a park, dispatching the boyfriend, then driving the woman to a secluded hut. The television version ends with the woman screaming as the hooded rapper appears; in the online version, he assaults her.
Kim McGregor, director of Rape Prevention Education, has written to the prime minister and a number of cabinet ministers asking them to push for the video to be banned. She had shown the clip to a focus group of young professional women, who had been deeply upset by its content.
"What they found disturbing was the pure unadulterated hatred of women that was portrayed," McGregor said. "Would this be funded by NZ on Air if it had portrayed the dismemberment of small animals?"
She said that by combining violent imagery with lyrics such as "I keep the party cracking like I'm cracking your girl's mouth", the clip presented anti-women messages as cool, and ran the risk of desensitising young people to the reality of violence. "It seems completely inappropriate that taxpayers' funds are used to support such extreme misogyny."
NZ on Air music manager Brendan Smyth said that $5000 of public funding had been provided for the television version of the clip, but the most graphic content, including the stabbing scene, was produced in a separate shoot funded by the record company, which forms the introduction to the song in the online-only version. He said NZ on Air based its funding decisions on the commercial viability of the music, and had no input into the concept of videos. Funding contracts stipulated that the money would have to be repaid to NZ on Air if the videos produced were not considered suitable for broadcast by television networks, but the TV version of the clip was currently screening on C4.
King, 23, whose debut album is released tomorrow, said he had "never really thought about" the implications of the video.
"I understand where they're coming from but it's entertainment, it's fake. I don't really want to go around stabbing anybody," he said. "It's me creating a scene from a movie in one song."
The concept for the clip had come about as a collaboration between himself, Move the Crowd record label boss Kirk Harding, and director Tim van Dammen, who had been toying with influences such as 1970s horror films.
"The main thing I wanted to do was just shock people, you know. Get people to be `That's way out of line', and to push the edge visually. I thought I'd come with something different, a lot darker."
Harding said the clip was no different to fare presented in shows such as TV's serial killer show Dexter or videos by American hip-hop artists such as Eminem. "Kids have the ability to take in all of that via YouTube. We're getting singled out because we're New Zealanders doing it."
He said there was no way to make a horror-themed video without being shocking. "It's not just girls getting taken out in there, a guy gets taken out too."
Van Dammen said he could understand people finding the video offensive "if they were to view it in isolation from the past 20 years of film, video, television and written media".
He added: "It's about time New Zealand music had a villain."
That did not impress Maria McMillan, spokeswoman for the Roundtable for Violence against Women.
"This isn't satire or commentary. It's simply another cliched depiction of a `fantasy' of women being stalked, bound and [placed] in a state of terror, deliberately aimed to shock or titillate in the hope that it'll sell a bunch of unoriginal pop-rap albums. The last thing we need is another man celebrated for hurting women."
Mike King said he had not seen his son's music video and was unaware of the controversy.

DERTY SESH - "Lil' Peka":
Damn! It must be mosquito season, coz there are a few annoying little bugs flying around making incessant noise.
I usually prefer to help careers rather than hinder them, but sometimes you just gotta stand up for yourself. I don't recall ever stopping anyone else's progress, so if you don't like what we do, please feel free to show us how it's done. Until then, we are just going to work and make real songs and not high school diss tracks.
Some unknown dude decided to attack one of ours today. We don't take it lightly, but also don't want to give him too much shine; so we will refer to him as Lil' Peka.
He's got some other mates who are making noise too. We see you bro's, but you are not worthy of mention.
We won't be getting into any endless back and forth dissing, because we don't play that game with cats that aren't on our level. We prefer to talk things out in person. And the boys do travel the country often, so a face to face talk is always a possibility. But in the name of friendly competition, Sesh wanted to drop a track that addresses a few things/common mistakes about him.
So now the focus can return to turning in the tracks for his second album. He just submitted another eight tracks for that album today.

NZ MUSICIAN On DERTY SESH's New Video:
It seems that some people have a few queries about Sesh's long form video for "Forever/Let Me Introduce Myself".
To answer some of these observations directly... only the "Forever" portion of the video will be serviced to Television, and it is a sanitised version at that.
The Chris Brown lyric quoted below was actually penned and tracked before all of the CB/Rihanna drama actually happened.
NZ On Air didn't fund the entire clip.
The uncensored long form version is probably less outrageous than an early Peter Jackson flick.
And thanks Mr Observation, we think it's fairly good too!

Let me introduce you to the latest tracks and video from Derty Sesh, the latest signing to hip-hop label Move The Crowd - also home to Smashproof and Kidz In Space. The video clip, directed by Tim Van Dammen of Blur and Sharpen, features two songs - Forever and Let Me Introduce Myself in a disturbing film noir- ish style story. With lyrics including "...I've so many screws loose I will shoot myself, blow my fuckin' brains out..." and "...Forever like Chris Brown...I get the party crackin' like I'm crackin' your girls mouth...", it's a little surprising to see that the tracks have been given a Music Video grant from NZ On Air in the latest funding round.
I'm wondering if the NZ Broadcasting Standards Authority will have a problem showing images of dead bodies and stabbing on our TV screens? I going to have a stab in the dark (hehe) and say it may have to be saved for the big kids after hours. Not everyone's cup of tea but it is a fairly good clip. Check it out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXEZVAEdmzw&feature=youtu.be
Both tracks will appear on Derty Sesh's self-produced horror themed album 'Sicc Love' - due for release March 29.

Updated release dates for MTC projects:
DERTY SESH - Sic Love March 29
YOUNG SID - What Doesn't Kill Me... April 26
DEACH - Vision June 14
Kidz In Space's debut album will probably street during June or July, we are just finishing up tracks now.
Young Sid's album moves back a touch simply because it's taken a bit longer than anticipated to get all of the mixes right. But we are in motion now; so the new date feels good. We shot the video for Sid's new single yesterday with Andrew Morton in the directors chair, so look for that to drop on March 19th.
Kayo is diligently working on his mixtape, Blank Slate; at the moment and that will emerge later this month.
We have lots of other projects in motion, but these are the next ones to drop.
