KIDZ IN SPACE E.P update:

The info on Amplifier is squared away and we are now up on Digirama.

We are getting there.

KIDZ IN SPACE E.P - AARRRRRGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

FUCK!

When things go wrong, they sure do go wrong! I can't fuckin' take this...

Kidz In Space's debut E.P Episode 001: Chasing Hayley was all set for release on Sept 24. We delivered all the parts on time and had what we thought was a great set up for what is the first release that is being marketed and promoted by us by ourselves. All other releases traditionally go through Universal's squad, but we decided to do this one ourselves and i think we delivered on all fronts. The only thing that was literally out of our hands, was the digital ingestion of the music up and on to all of the relevant digital retail sites in NZ.

The original launch intention was to give iTunes a week of exclusivity with the E.P and and all other partners would launch a week later. This was done in the hope that iTunes would give us some visibility on their main page and Hip Hop page. But alas, someone entered some data incorrectly and we unfortunately missed our opening week.

I get it, mistakes happen... but its very frustrating that we did all of that work and spent all of that money just for one little fuck up to be made by someone who we don't even know, and "poof" we miss a whole week of sales. So we missed any visibility that we may have had from being exclusive to iTunes for the week and we looked to the following week to go wide with everyone (including iTunes).

During the week the Universal folks were to-ing and fro-ing because someone entered the E.P title incorrectly "Episode 1" vs. "Episode 001", but we were told that everything was going to be fine for the new release date of August 31.

So here we are, August 31st and everyones stores have turned over for the new week and how does it look...?

Well... Amplifier are the only store to have the E.P available for sale, but they have the tracklisting backwards!? And the E.P title is listed incorrectly!? Digirama don't even have the E.P up yet? And it's AWOL at iTunes too!?!

Two weeks of sales lost and again, no one will be accountable for that fact.

There is certainly something to be said for physical product in this scenario. A truck delivering stock late i can handle, but this digital stuff is infuriating and leaves me feeling helpless. Our act is sitting, wishing an waiting for their debut recording to come out so they can (rightfully) point all of their friends, fans and fams to it and feel good that their art has now been put out into the public arena. But that is sadly not the case here and at the end of the day it makes us and our act look like we don't have our shit together.

Stand by for the latest in the continuing saga of Amateur Hour...

FUCK!
